Because there was one thing the three of them definitely didn't want: a standard built-in kitchen. It wouldn't fit in at all with the old school in the Weinviertel region, which the young family is renovating and living in with their own efforts. Old school? New School? Verena and David, both in their mid-30s, kindergarten teacher and professional firefighter, have been looking for a lot. Grounds, houses. Until they finally found what they were looking for. The old school, very close to grandma's. A couple has lived here for 40 years, but everyone in town still calls it "the Schui. A bungalow with a garden, pond, forest and a lot of work awaited the two young parents. A self-directed conversion.
The central room and hub of (extended) family life is the old classroom. A large, open, loft-like space with brown stone walls, where old and new meet unagitatedly. Today!
At that time - everything was still a vision. And here, as desired, should be a design kitchen that attracts all eyes and yet blends in harmoniously. In the middle of the room is best. As the center of living together. And again the two searched.
"We almost gave up, we just couldn't find what we wanted. Until we found a little picture of Keep on the Internet. Then everything went really fast."

Actually, the kitchen should be black. Contrasting with the stones, the colorful chairs, the floorboards. But what makes a classroom? The blackboard. And what color is that? Exactly! So the idea of dark green linoleum fronts encasing the black steel frame was born.
"Steel was certain for us from the beginning. A wonderful material that behaves similarly to the stones of the wall. Robust, original, strong and resistant."
The central element of the kitchen is the wide wall module with Bora hob, black worktop and the sink. Matching steel shelving elements quote the steel frame and give the module a visual height. Storage space and most appliances find their place in the wide tall cabinet. The loose L arrangement of the modular kitchen gives the room depth. Without taking up much space.
Today, the modular kitchen is right in the middle of family life. People cook, drink coffee, or just chat. Among each other, with the many friends who always find an open door in the "Schui" and of course with the large family that lives nearby.
Outside the chickens cluck, the cats purr around and the children play on the ground. Here everyone finds his place.
